Improving Your Understanding of the NHS Pension Scheme: Information for HR Teams

The introduction of the 2015 NHS Pension Scheme has linked normal pension age to state pension age. This means that over 70 per cent of the NHS workforce will not be able to access their full pension benefits until they are in their mid to late 60s, and some will have a pension age of 68.

The Scottish Working Longer Group recognise that a good understanding of the NHS Pension Scheme can be an effective way of enabling and encouraging staff to stay in work until their later pension age.

The Information Pack for HR teams available here is designed to increase knowledge of the NHSScotland Pension Scheme and its provisions from a strategic workforce planning perspective.

The pack can be download and shared with colleagues, and can be used as a reference point, or as a training and induction resource for HR team members.
